Things To Look For In Hornets First Pre-Season Game

Well it’s finally here, the first time we can observe how good these Hornets will be. Okay so it’s one game, and yes it’s a pre-season one. But you can really notice how far along these guys are and whether or not they’ll be good enough or not to make the playoffs. Simple as that. Let’s discuss some things to look out for.

  • How is Chris Paul doing?

Now obviously he won’t be as dominant as a usual regular season game but I’m just concerned to see whether he’ll fit with the team or not. How do certain players play off of him, how does Chris fit in with “The Williams Way” and so on.

  • New Additions, are they any good?

So we have a number of new faces on the team, most of them young players with a bunch of potential. But as well all know potential is a nine letter word and it means zilch if it doesn’t amount into production. Trevor Ariza is going to be closely scrutinized because of his previous inefficiencies in Houston, so can he turn it around? What about Marco Belinelli? Is he ready to be a starter in the NBA? So today look out for these new faces, there will be a lot to learn

  • Emeka Okafor Development

I’ll be brief with this one. Okafor needs to step it up a notch because as we’ve previously discussed he posted a number of career lows. We thought we were getting a 15/10/2 guys but we got a 10/9/1.6. We need to see the former and not the latter Okafor.

  • Can Monty Williams coach?

Yes.

  • How is Quincy Pondexter going?

Once David West has either left the team or retired, I am hoping Quincy Pondexter becomes my next favorite Hornet. I really want Q-Pon to succeed so I’ll have a really close eye on him to see how far he’s come along since Summer League.
