Today’s question is one that hits hard amongst local Hornets fans which is, “Can the Hornets get to 10,000 Season Ticket Holders before the season starts?”
No, they won’t.
James Grayson, Swarm and Sting: 9200. Asking for 10,000, in a lockout, with no owner, five (six including Belinelli) players on their roster, a super star with one foot out the door, is a big request from Jac Sperling and the NBA. However, I think that fans should be proud of their current mark of just under 8500. I don’t think we get too much more, but 9200 is something to be proud of.
Don’t worry I’m not an asshole in real life, others were a lot more optimistic, but as the lovely 42 pointed out in a HornetsReport thread, “We were on pace (~20/day) until the lockout, then it less than halved. The slower rate is like the better predictor. I’d be surprised if we broke 8750 on ‘fan sales.’ “
So it seems things are WORSE than I predicted, jeez, stop giving me that look. Though, I think that this was to be expected. Who really wants to buy tickets when a lockout is going on? We all now know that the NFL is back-on (which is bad news for the Hornets), so things are bound to make a down turn.
Frankly, everyone in New Orleans (who has purchased season-tickets) should not only be damned proud of themselves, they should be bought a round of their favourite alcoholic (or non-alcoholic) beverages. Showing that they are true New Orleanians and not some snub, non-NBA, self-righteous,
So what do you guys think? Am I being a little too harsh? Do you think we can reach the goal? I think if a local owner steps up AND a lockout is ended that good times will be had by all.
