Another question for you guys, this time it’s about Hornets small-forward Trevor Ariza. When the Hornets acquired Ariza they knew that they were getting an athletic swingman who was a good NBA defender. Making sure that there was more athleticism on the roster seemed apparent to me when looking back. I think a problem though with managment, was that they went a little too overboard.
Anyway, something that keeps plaguing my mind, is how the Hornets need to surround Chris Paul with more shooters and scorers. That 2008 season was a good one, because when Paul drew attention and defenders, who could kick it to guys who could either stroke it, or finish in style…
Aside from my lame writing style, my opinion is that Ariza is very much open to being traded between now and the next trade deadline. I have high hopes for him heading into next season. While his shooting sometimes makes you want to jam a fork in your eye, his defending some-what makes up for it.
General Manager Dell Demps has described the Hornets core as “Chris Paul, David West and Emeka Okafor,” leaving Ariza off the list. The problem though, is that Trevor’s contract is somewhat inflated albeit manageable. Getting equal value in return is tough, so it’s likely that any trade involving him would need multiple players in a package of sorts.
So guys and gals, tell us what you think. Would you trade Ariza? Would be fine staying where he is? Let us know in the comment section below.
