Emeka Okafor, who has battled a bad knee all year, was officially deemed out for the season at the beginning of the month. Okafor has only played 27 games this season and averaged 9.9 points and 7.9 rebounds.
Okafor is expected to get back in the gym and start working out again next month.
Emeka has not proved his worth, while being with the Hornets as his productivity and numbers have consistently decreased since joining the Hornets in 2009. Emeka made over $12 million this season and is expected to make $13 million next season. That’s a high price to pay for someone who cannot stay on the court or produce while playing. It would be a major surprise to see Emeka Okafor in a New Orleans Hornets uniform come October.
It has been said that the Hornets would like to explore all trade options for Okafor before they decide to use their amnesty on him and release him.
