ESPN’s NBA Insider Chad Ford ranked the all the No. 1 overall pick from the past 20 years, including this years Anthony Davis. The ranking is based on the hype that surrounded the player before they played a real game in the NBA.

First was Lebron James, then Tim Duncan, Chris Webber, Greg Oden, Yao Ming, then Anthony Davis at No. 6. Yes according to Ford Anthony Davis is being regarded higher than Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, Allen Iverson, & Blake Griffin when they were being drafted. There was no doubt that any one of those players were going to be NBA superstars. Here is what Ford said about Davis,

“Placing Davis on this list is particularly hard. But a few things warrant him going this high. First, only one other player below him was the consensus No. 1 pick. And there have been just seven of those in the past 20 years. Two, Davis’ size, athletic ability, skill set and the fact he won a national championship as a freshman have all created a narrative that he could be a combination of Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. If that’s even close to true, we might have him too low.”

So lets hope that Anthony Davis lives up to all the hype surrounding him!
