The Hornets recently acquired the 46th overall pick from the Wizards in a trade last week. This does not give the Hornets a whole lot of time to scout and work out players for the 46th selection. Previously they did not own a pick outside the lottery.
DraftExpress.com has the Hornets taking Mike Scott, PF out of Virginia. Draft.net has the Hornets taking Drew Gordon, PF out of New Mexico. If Anthony Davis wasn’t Anthony Davis I would say those would be two great picks that late in the draft, but I seriously hope the Hornets would not select another power forward in this draft. The Hornets have big holes to fill at point guard, small forward, and center.
At the 46 the Hornets need to pick the best player available that plays any other position besides power forward. Jason Smith and Lance Thomas will be fine back ups for Anthony Davis, for now.
Some players that might be available at 46 that would make a ton of sense are, PG Tyshawn Taylor, C Robert Sacre, SG/SF Kevin Murphy, C Henry Sims, and PG Scott Machado. It really all depends on who the Hornets take at No. 10 and what position he plays.
