Hornets In Talks With Free Agent Nicolas Batum

Free agency officially began today and offers are already being thrown around.

According to CSNNW the Hornets may be interested in signing free agent forward Nicolas Batum and have set up a meeting sometime this week. Batum’s agent confirmed this. The Hornets are not the only team interested in the services of Batum. the Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly made a very serious offer worth about $40-50 million over 4 years to Batum. The Toronto Raptors also have scheduled a meeting with Batum.

Batum is only 23 and has a ton of potential. He never really got his chance in Portland, but he dominated while he played overseas during the lockout last year.

I would not expect the Hornets to make an offer to any free agent until Eric Gordon either re-signs with the Hornets or another team. He is the #1 priority and it would be hard to make an offer to other players while some cap space is being held up by Gordon’s negotiating.

The Hornets are also being linked to free agents Nick Young and Javale Mcgee so far.
