Eric Gordon Signs Offer Sheet With The Phoenix Suns

Eric Gordon just agreed to sign a maximum 4 year, $58 million contract with the Phoenix Suns.

Not only did Eric Gordon sign a contract with another team but according to ESPN’s Chriss Broussard he had this to say after,

“I strongly feel (the Suns) are the right franchise for me,” said Gordon. “Phoenix is just where my heart is.”

That comment is kind of a slap in the face to the Hornets organization. This really puts the Hornets in a tough situation. Do they offer up a ton of money to a player that does not even want to be there? Do they let one of the best scorers to come through New Orleans walk away?

My suggestion is that the Hornets match the offer and put Eric Gordon on the trade block. Free agency started 3 days ago and he already has received a max contract offer. Since Gordon wants to be in Phoenix the Hornets can essentially take whatever Phoenix will give them for Gordon and still have enough money to sign a elite player this year or next year.

What do you think the Hornets should do in this situation?
