New Orleans Hornets own Al-Farouq Aminu is in London playing for the Nigerian Men’s National team. He helped lead them to their first victory in London today. They faced Tunisia in this preliminary match up, the final score was 60 – 56. Al-Farouq played pretty well as he posted 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals in 30 minutes. He could have shot the ball better as he was 33% from the floor, 3 out of 9 shots total.
Al-Farouq was outscored by his brother Aladae, who posted 15 points and 9 rebounds. Aladae is a 6’11 center who is currently played overseas in France for club Elan Chalon.
I am glad to see Al-Farouq playing well in the Olympics, hopefully he can continue playing well and be more of a factor for the Hornets this upcoming season.
Check back for more updates on Al-Farouq Aminu and Nigeria as they make their way through Olympic play. Nigeria is scheduled to play Lithuania next on July 31st, then they take on the juggernaut Team USA on August 2nd.
