Head Coach Monty Williams Receives Multi-Year Extension

The Hornets officially announced this morning that they have re-signed Head Coach Monty Williams to a new multi-year deal. The specifics of the deal have not been released but it will keep Williams in New Orleans until 2016.

Williams became the ninth head coach in franchise history when he was hired on June 7, 2010. He is now heading into his third year as the Hornets head coach and has accumulated a career record of 67-81 (.453). Williams took the team to the playoffs in his first season as a Head Coach in 2010-2011, the Hornets finished with a record of 46-36. This past season was not as fortunate for Williams and the Hornets as they finished with a 21-45 record, one of the leagues worst.

Even though Coach Monty Williams may not have the best record as of right now, he has shown promise and has given the Hornets an identity.
