Hornets Drop to 3-3 In Preseason Loss To Mavericks

After starting the preseason off 3-0 the Hornets are now on a 3 game losing streak with a loss to the Dallas Mavericks being the most recent. The Hornets offense is really suffering without Eric Gordon, they are just simply getting outscored. In Monday nights loss to Dallas the Hornets only scored 10 points in the first quarter as the offense seems to be stagnant.

Rookie Austin Rivers re-injured the right ankle that required surgery in the summer. Rivers got the start and managed to miss all 5 of his shot attempts before leaving the game with the ankle injury. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI today and his status will become more clear later on. I expect him to miss the rest of the preseason and prepare for the first game of the season on the 31st.

In the 74-87 loss to the Mavericks on Monday no Hornets player really had a dominant game. Anthony Davis played well as he grabbed a whopping 17 rebounds, but he shot 2-12 from the field and finished will a mere 6 points. Robin Lopez has been very consistent in the preseason and continued his good play in this game with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Dirk Nowitzki did not play in Monday nights game against the Hornets. Oj Mayo led the Mavericks in points with 13.

The Hornets take on the Rockets next on Wednesday.
