The Hornets have officially bought-out and waived the contract of recently acquired Matt Carroll. Carroll was just traded to the Hornets from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for Hakim Warrick. Warrick just did not fit in the Hornets plan as he never found any room in the rotation. It is clear now that the move for Carroll was strictly a cap dumb. The Hornets began negotiating the buyout with Carroll as soon as the trade went through.
The Hornets already have a number of back-up shooting guards in Austin Rivers, Xavier Henry, and Roger Mason. It would have been hard to fit Carroll in that rotation had he been given a chance.
Matt Carroll is now a free agent and will be free to sign with any team once he clears waivers.
