New Orleans Hornets Lose To Indiana Pacers In OT 115-107

After getting blown out by the Knicks, the New Orleans Hornets went into to Indiana Wednesday night trying to snap a 4 game losing streak. The Hornets were once again short handed as Anthony Davis was forced miss his 2nd game in a row due to his tender ankle that has been bothering him.

This game between the Pacers and the Hornets was a classic game of runs, both team lead by 10 at one point throughout the game. It was Indiana though who had the final run. The Pacers were down in the 4th until they rallied back behind consecutive 3-pointers from Paul George and Lance Stevenson to give them the lead. The Hornets managed to tie the game and send it to overtime, with the score tied at 97. Overtime was all Indiana’s, they came out hot and scored 10 unanswered points. The Hornets had no answer big enough.

This game was full of stat sheet stuffers as 11 players scored in double figures, 2 players had double-doubles, and Roy Hibbert posted a triple-double.

After only grabbing 11 rebounds in the past 4 games, Robin Lopez grabbed 13 boards and scored a season high 21 points. Jason Smith had a solid game off the bench and scored 18 points with 7 rebounds. Smith was also 1 of the 2 Hornets players that finished with a positive +/- ratio.

Two main reasons why the Hornets lost this game can be accredited to Paul George and Roy Hibbert. George and Hibbert had monster games for the paces. George finished with 37 points in 34 minutes, while Hibbert posted his first career triple-double. Hibbert finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 blocked shots. It can be noted that Paul George only had 4 points at halftime.

The Hornets are now on a 5 game losing streak and will travel to Phoenix next to take on the Suns on Friday the 23rd.
