Damian Lillard Hits Game Winner To Give New Orleans Hornets 7th Straight Loss

The Hornets traveled to Oregon to take on the Portland Trailblazers on Sunday night. This has been a long awaited match-up to see the top 2 candidates to win the Rookie Of The Year Award face each other. With Anthony Davis missing half the season so far Lillard has became the favorite to win the award, and he showed the Hornets why. The Trailblazers were down 2 with 5 seconds left in the game and Lillard inbounding near the top of the key. Somehow Lillard inbounded the ball, got it back and got off a great look from 3 to win the game for Portland.

Though they lost, the Hornets showed great effort and played some good basketball through out the game. The Hornets were down by 12 going into the 4th quarter and managed to take the lead on a Austin Rivers 3-pointers near the end of the game. Then it was Damian Lillard who stole the show.

Lillard played well but was short of his season averages against the Hornets. Lillard finished with 16 points 4 assist, while his season averages are 18 points per game and 6 assist per game.

J.J. Hickson had a monster game against the Hornets Sunday night. Hickson had a few slam dunks and led the Blazers in scoring with 24 points. Hickson’s big game came on the boards though, as he pulled down a total of 16!

Ryan Anderson was once again the Hornets leading scorer. Anderson had a game high 26 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. But it was Grevis Vasquez who can be named the Hornets top performer. Vasquez had a near triple-double, 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 11 assist. Vasquez and Anderson have been the two most consistent players for the Hornets this season, both have been producing very well.

Anthony Davis came off the bench again, it seem like Williams is comfortable with him there. Though Davis came off the bench he saw the same amount of minutes as starter Ryan Anderson, both played 34. Davis finished with 15 points and 5 rebounds.
