According to ESPN’s Marc Spears, the New Orleans Pelicans are one of several teams that expressed interest in unrestricted free agent Andre Iguodala. Iguodala declined a player option for the last year of his contract, opting to become a free agent. Following the trade for Jrue Holiday, the Pelicans only have about $6 million in cap space. To generate the space required to sign Igoudala, the Pelicans would likely have to trade Greivis Vasquez, waive Robin Lopez, and dispose of a few unguaranteed contracts.
Iguodala would fill the Pelicans gaping hole at small forward and drastically improve their perimeter defense. Though not a very efficient scorer, Iguodala can create offensively for himself and teammates, and would help to make New Orleans a playoff contender next season.
