Kevin Ferrigan of nbacouchside.com has released an excellent series of articles projecting the win totals and player performance for each team in the NBA. These projections are based on Regularized Adjusted Plus Minus (RAPM). Among “advanced” stats, RAPM, a measure of individual contribution to unit plus minus, tends to be the most statistically reliable for predictive purposes.
Ferrigan predicts the Pelicans to win around 42 games. The individual player RAPM projections suggest the a roster of several above average but not great players. I find it likely that Anthony Davis will progress at a rate that exceeds his projected RAPM growth curve.
I would suggest reading the entirety of the nbacouchside.com projections as they provide both excellent statistical projections and interesting analysis of other factors.
