Believe it or not, Eric Gordon is expected to play actual basketball for the Pelicans in their Thursday night preseason game versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. Gordon underwent surgery on his ankle over the offseason, and has been held out of training camp through his recovery. Gordon’s return adds a key dynamic to this Pelicans roster. His outside shooting helps provide the spacing necessary for an efficient offense, while his ball handling and finishing ability will provide secondary creation alongside Jrue Holiday. Gordon’s exact health situation remains a mystery. While he appeared rusty after returning from injury last season, he seemed to have retained his athleticism. Hopefully Gordon remains the explosive, creative guard the Pelicans for whom the Pelicans traded.
