The NBA season officially ended last night when the Spurs death machine executed their programming all the way through the game. It was incredible to watch as they stuck to the plan even as LeBron James came out on fire and eventually wore down James who got no help from any teammate, much like the last three games. Now we ponder where exactly this San Antonio team lands in the list of the NBA’s greatest teams and move onto draft things. Here are today’s links that do a bit of both:
The Spurs Were a Team. They Were Also Really Good: Mike Prada on how the team didn’t beat talent. The more talented team won.
But those platitudes also do the Spurs a disservice. They suggest the Spurs defeated the more talented team, and that is wrong. It is wrong for one simple reason: the Spurs are damn talented
They Will Be Back: Tom Ziller on how the Heat can learn from the Spurs and reach the level of champions again.
Kawhi Not Like Him? The always great Ramona Shelburne on Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard that includes the reason it is so hard to not like the guy.
But as he walked away from the championship podium, the only one in the building surprised he was named the Finals MVP in a landslide vote, he said everything you need to know about who he is and what’s inside him with a hug. A deep, soulful hug with his mother, Kim Robertson.
The Biggest Question: Marc Spears on how the Heat are still the best choice for LeBron James if he wants to win more titles.
Parker or Wiggins? HoopsHabit debates the tough question potentially facing all three of the top teams in the NBA draft.
Mock Time: The Fansided NBA editors did a Mock Draft. I tried to trade the New Orleans Pelicans into the draft but no one wanted Pierre Jackson.
