Daily Debriefings: Klay Thompson, Huh?

As we inch closer to the NBA Draft we also inch closer to Kevin Love maybe, potentially, eventually being traded. The newest rumors have the Warriors as the front-runners to land Love’s services except for the fact they won’t include Klay Thompson in a trade. Obviously the situation needs to be watched closely as the Warriors adding a player of Love’s caliber instantly vaults them towards the top of the Western Conference standings. On to today’s links:

The Rundown: A more in-depth breakdown of the Thompson/Love situation from above, explain by Marc Stein and Ramona Shelburne.

After it appeared that the Warriors were prepared to part with Thompson in a deal to land Minnesota’s Love, sources told ESPN.com that Hall of Fame consultant Jerry West and new Warriors coach Steve Kerr have voiced opposition to surrendering both Thompson and a future first-round pick to the Timberwolves along with former All-Star forward David Lee for Love and Wolves guard Kevin Martin.

A Max for Klay? Klay Thompson reportedly wants a max contract when his deal is up. A breakdown of why he isn’t worth it.

More Trade News: In other trade news the Chicago Bulls may be trying to acquire Arron Afflalo.

Another Love Situation? There is another player that may be in the center of a Kevin Love like rumor storm next summer; Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge. HoopsHabit breaks the situation down really well here.

Tread Cautiously with Tucker: Mike Prada on why teams (including our New Orleans Pelicans) should be careful with PJ Tucker and his “offensive improvement.”

Checkered Past: Finally Jimmy Smith looked at the Pelicans draft history since the franchise moved to New Orleans.
