Daily Debriefings: The Calm Before the Carmelo Anthony Storm

Now that the 2014 NBA Draft is over we get a bit of calm. For the next few days we will see a few rumors here or there but since nothing will be official for a bit it won’t be too crazy. There will be news of teams filling out summer league rosters and options being accepted or declined and teams clearing cap space for Carmelo Anthony but it would be a surprise to see anything major. That doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to read though. On to today’s links:

Never to Early to Look at the Draft: A quick breakdown of 30 of the top prospects for the 2015 NBA Draft.

Melo Staying in New York? The Knicks are reportedly very optimistic about their chances at keeping Carmelo Anthony.  Keeping Melo isn’t there only plan though:

Sources told ESPN.com that Knicks officials, while not willing to trumpet it publicly with free agency fast approaching, are quietly confident about their odds of retaining Anthony thanks in part to the idea that new team president Phil Jackson and the high-scoring forward have “connected” to some degree.

Furthermore, one source close to the process told ESPN.com’s Ramona Shelburne that Jackson is planning to make a determined attempt to try to recruit his former Los Angeles Lakerscenter Pau Gasol to replace the freshly traded Tyson Chandler alongside Anthony on the Knicks’ front line, despite the fact New York is limited to offering Gasol less than $4 million for next season.

From Cameroon to the NBA: A really good profile of Joel Embiid and his journey to the NBA.

Coming to America: What is it like when a 19 year old from Australia comes to New York for the first time so he can get drafted to the NBA? Well here is 72 hours with Dante Exum during his first trip to New York.

Hot Hot Heat Rumors: Carmelo Anthony won’t be the only, or biggest name that is technically a free agent. Some rumors about the Heat, this time Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
