The second day of free agency is in the books and there is a new biggest name to have signed after Kyle Lowry agreed to re-sign with the Toronto Raptors last night. The Raptors fought off a few teams, most notably the Houston Rockets, for the services of the temperamental but talented guard and will enter next season with the core of the team that made a surprising playoff run in tact. Now everyone seems to be waiting on the Heat’s Big Three of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony before doing anything major.
KLOE (Kyle Lowry Over Everything): Here is HoopsHabit on the Lowry deal and what it means for the Raptors.
This is a huge day for Canadian basketball, especially when you consider Lowry chose to take the money to stay in Toronto rather than leave for Miami to try and play with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Watching the Raptors host their first playoff series in years was electric enough, but this re-signing may usher in a new era for Toronto basketball.
L-Train Finds a New Station: The Nets already have found their replacement for Jason Kidd and in all likelihood they upgraded when they signed Lionel Hollins.
Big Three Not On the Same Page: So it looks like LeBron James isn’t on the same page as Bosh and Wade. Good for LeBron, he should do what is best for him. The guy has never been the highest paid player on his own team, which is one of the more amazing facts I have seen lately.
Space Jam Stuff: Space Jam is one of the great memories of my childhood. The soundtrack was perfect. So this site is going to have me lost for hours today.
Shabazz: Andy Lui with a great look at the weird story of Shabazz Napier and the Miami Heat.
