After weeks of waiting to see what would happen LeBron James shocked the NBA world yesterday when he decided to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers to continue his career. As expected the James signing opened everything up everything else in free agency as Chris Bosh signed a five year max contract with the Heat, Isaiah Thomas decided to join the Phoenix Suns, and Pau Gasol reportedly has agreed to join the Chicago Bulls this morning. Basically, things just got crazy. Onto the links:
I’m Coming Home: Here is letter LeBron James wrote announcing he was coming home. LeBron killed it with this. The first paragraph gave me goosebumps.
Before anyone ever cared where I would play basketball, I was a kid from Northeast Ohio. It’s where I walked. It’s where I ran. It’s where I cried. It’s where I bled. It holds a special place in my heart. People there have seen me grow up. I sometimes feel like I’m their son. Their passion can be overwhelming. But it drives me. I want to give them hope when I can. I want to inspire them when I can. My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now.
LeBron Coverage: There was tons of good LeBron James stuff out there yesterday. Over at Hardwood Paroxysm David Vertsberger wrote on LeBron James return being the best story in sports. Jordan White wrote about LeBron, Lionel Messi and coming home. And (shameless plug alert!), I wrote about LeBron finally not making the best basketball decision.
