Like Tuesday when Anthony Davis and Team USA played New Zealand the Americans are set to tip-off at 10:30 am CT this morning which is going to make things hard for us here at Pelican Debrief. Also like Tuesday work and classes make getting an immediate recap up impossible so be on the lookout for some thoughts later on tonight on the game.
As a quick primer though here are some things to look for though when Team USA plays Ukraine.
- Does Coach K rest starters? This is the American’s third game in three days and though Steph Curry, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Kenneth Faried and Davis haven’t played a ton they did look a bit tired to start Wednesday’s game. Will Coach K bring subs earlier today in what should be another blowout or will he continue his trend of playing them hard in the first half and going mostly subs in the second?
- Will Davis get his touch back. Perhaps thanks to the fatigue Davis struggled a bit to finish tips and lobs on Wednesday. Can he get back to form? It won’t matter now but if fatigue is going to bother Davis the match up with Spain becomes even tougher for Team USA.
- Can the American shooters knock down more shots? Things are starting to turn around a bit but Team USA has struggled to shoot the three so far in Spain. Can they fix that to make zones hard to play?
- Will Ukraine play for point differential? Point differential can determine where teams two through four finish in Group C so Ukraine may try to slow the game down a ton and keep things as close as possible to put themselves in the best position to move on. Team USA typically plays at the fastest pace out of anyone in the tournament though so that is easier said than done.
