New Orleans Pelicans stay ahead of the New York Knicks, win 104-93
Tonight wasn’t pretty but a win is a win. The New York Knicks are known for keeping games close and tonight they did just that by causing the New Orleans Pelicans to play a bit of a rough game. The Pelicans struggled throughout the contest due to inconsistent defense and a rare off night for Anthony Davis. Amare Stoudemire went off tonight, scoring 26 points on 11-18 shooting, having no problems with Davis or Omer Asik. For a long time it looked like the Knicks might pull it out in the end but New Orleans got help from an unexpected source. From the beginning of the 4th quarter, until late into the quarter, the Pelicans bench played phenomenal. While the bench has been a weak point all season, it was New Orleans bench that saved them late, thanks to some incredible late game defense and just enough offense to keep the Knicks at bay. Once the starters re entered the game all they had to do was not blow the lead. Rare for a group that’s used to carrying the majority of the load.
