Friday night was supposed to be the start of something special for the New Orleans Pelicans. They entered a game against the Orlando Magic in the hunt for the eighth seed in the Western Conference playoffs and with two important pieces of the rotation returning after injuries.
Instead of getting off on the right foot after the All-Star break though, the Pelicans stumbled their way to a 95-84 loss to another bad Eastern Conference team.
Other observations:
- The Magic just seemed to play harder tonight which is a problem. Orlando got to every 50/50 ball, scored on put backs on missed free throws and scored way more points in the paint. Effort was a big factor in this game and it was weird to see the Pelicans be so flat.
- It sounds like Norris Cole will play tomorrow which means Jimmer is probably done seeing minutes. I know people will complain Jimmer never got a fair shot this year but it feels like he has and hasn’t earned more time at this point.
- The Pelicans take on the Miami Heat tomorrow night in Miami so expect a win because that would be so Pelicans.
Tweets of the night:
That seemed not ideal as Anderson got torched by Vuc.
That also seems not ideal.
