Without Ryan Anderson, Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday not much was expected from the New Orleans Pelicans.

Yet thanks to a 25 point effort from

Quincy Pondexter

and a 15 point 11 assist game from

Tyreke Evans

the Pelicans won their second straight game by defeating the Nets 102-96 in New Orleans.

B-. It was a tough night shooting the ball for <strong><a href=. SG. New Orleans Pelicans. ERIC GORDON

TYREKE EVANS. A. There is so much responsiblity on Tyreke Evans right now and he keeps delivering. Tonight it was with a balanced game as his 15 points and 11 assists kept the Pelicans flowing well enough.  . SF/PG/SG. New Orleans Pelicans

A. What a wonderful night for <strong><a href=. C. New Orleans Pelicans. OMER ASIK

New Orleans Pelicans. NORRIS COLE. A. For the third straight night <strong><a href=. PG

Offensively it was a nice night for <strong><a href=. SF. New Orleans Pelicans. DANTE CUNNINGHAM. B-

SF. New Orleans Pelicans. QUINCY PONDEXTER. A. When the Pelicans acquired him from the Grizzlies earlier this season I doubt they every expected a 25 point game from Quincy Pondexter. But Q delivered by getting smart shots within the flow of the game and knocking them down to help the team pick up a nice win.

B. Fourth quarter <strong><a href=. SF. New Orleans Pelicans. LUKE BABBITT

It wasn’t the best game Ajinca has played all year box score wise but he was very solid. He still struggled with foul trouble but he got his shots to fall, got his hand on a lot of rebounds and protected the rim a bit. It was nice.  . C. New Orleans Pelicans. ALEXIS AJINCA. B+

Other observations:

  • When the three injured Pelicans get back this team will have a nice ten man rotation. Babbitt won’t be a part of things at that point but watching the Pelicans lately they have 10 quality players to fill out a rotation without any super weak links.
  • This game got ugly at points but that plays into a banged up teams hands. New Orleans did just enough to build and hold their lead and pick up the nice win.
  • Norris Cole’s passing has become infectious as the second unit is whipping the ball around to open men in a fashion they haven’t all year. We even got an Alexis Ajinca wrap around pass tonight.
  • The Pels play again on Friday on ESPN. That should be fun, even without Anthony Davis.
