Now that the New Orleans Pelicans 2014-2015 season is over it is time to look back at each member of the roster and see how their season went. To do so we will be taking a look at both ends of the floor and assigning a grade before coming together for an overall grade that takes into account the entirety of the season. Today we will focus on the three-point sniper that is Eric Gordon

. Offense,. ERIC GORDON. A-. The 2014-2015 season was an offensive evolution for <strong><a href=

. Defense. GORDON. C. Defensively is where Eric Gordon has his biggest problems. On offense his three-point shooting at least always makes him a threat, however on defense Gordon is severely undersized and has trouble staying in front of his man. He is too slow to guard point guards and is to small to guard wing players. Gordon’s defensive deficiencies are not due to lack of effort but because of physical limitations, which means hope of him improving on that end are very unlikely. His defense has only been above league average one year in his career, and  despite struggling on defense this year he posted his highest Defensive Win Share since joining New Orleans. Gordon defensive field goal percentage allowed this season was a 45.2, which is not terrible considering the league average was 44%. In the end it was about what we could have expected from Gordon.

B. . . Overall. ERIC GORDON

By now its pretty understood that Gordon is not worth his 15 million dollar contract, and the Pelicans would probably be better off if he opted out, but most likely that is not going to happen. One thing that should also be a consensus agreement among Pelicans fans is that Eric Gordon’s three-point shooting helped the team a lot. His knockdown three-point shooting aided the Pelicans and helped the Pelicans staff in trying to find a consistent role for him. Before his shoulder injury it looked like Gordon was the square peg trying to fit into a round hole but he was able to return an entirely different player knocking down threes at the best clip of his career. Almost just as important was him not missing a single game since that shoulder injury. Gordon gets an overall grade of B because when he is not on with his three-point shot, he does not do anything anything else at a league average rate, this leaves him vulnerable to games where he just completely disappears. Overall however this a season that Gordon and the Pelicans can build off of and feel optimistic about going forward.[/grade]
