New Orleans Pelicans Player Grades: Pelicans fall to Mavericks
It was another tough night as the New Orleans Pelicans entered halftime with a lead before tired legs and a lack of rotation players cost them late as they fell to 0-6 with a 107-98 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
Other Observations:
- The Pelicans have to win this game. The Mavs could not buy a bucket in the second quarter and the Pelicans could not capitalize. They were only up six at the half with Dirk Nowitzki shooting 2-10 from the field. New Orleans have to take advantage of situations like this.
- It is a disappointing loss considering the Pelicans three best players all scored over 20 points. If the Pelicans are going to win someone else has to step up and right now I have no idea who that is going to be.
- The defense looked better at times but the Mavericks still got tons of open shots right at the rim and rotations were either late or just not their at all. This led to the Pelicans over committing later in the game which of course led to open threes. Omer Asik can’t come back quick enough.
The Pelicans will get another crack at the Mavs Tuesday in the Smoothie King Center.
