New Orleans Pelicans Player Grades: Pelicans Crush Mavericks
By Nathan Heck
Well, this is something new. The New Orleans Pelicans handled the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday in a game that was never particularly close. The Pelicans jumped out to a ten point lead right off the bat, and they never looked back. Players took turns taking over the game with almost the entire team putting in a strong effort. Fans faced a scary thought after halftime when Anthony Davis remained in the locker room, but it has been released that the x-ray results were negative. At the end of the day, the Pelicans put together a strong effort from start to finish and earned their first win of the season.
Other Thoughts:
- The defense, which has been atrocious all season, was much improved tonight. The effort was there, and the rotations were much less confused.
- Ryan Anderson was able to absolutely abuse the Mavericks on mismatches tonight, and it was really fun to watch.
- The fans in the arena erupted over a Jimmer layup in garbage time. Seriously.
- Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon were fantastic in the first quarter, and it definitely set the tone for the entire game.
- Hopefully Davis is back Wednesday night. The Pelicans played well against the Hawks last time, and if the role players play like they did tonight, they could win that game.
