New Orleans Pelicans Player Grades: Clippers snap the streak
By Nathan Heck
The New Orleans Pelicans did not continue their win streak on Friday night, and they fell to the Clippers in Los Angeles.
The New Orleans Pelicans had their three game streak snapped in Los Angeles by the Chris Paul-led Clippers on Friday night. There was little positive to take from the game at all, but the low point was when fans’ collective heart stopped as Anthony Davis was carried into the locker room after a collision with Chris Paul. After a brief stint of panic, fears were calmed by a report that the injury was a simple contusion and there was no structural damage. The Pelicans will need Davis back sooner rather than later to continue digging out of this early season hole.
Other Thoughts
- Playing both Omer Asik and Alonzo Gee together is becoming problematic because of their lack of scoring. Teams can simply ignore both of them in half-court sets and key on Gordon, Davis, Anderson and Holiday.
- The case for taking minutes from Ish Smith to give to Norris Cole is very weak.
- Anthony Davis had been favoring his knee the entire first half. Hopefully this doesn’t become a nagging injury.
- The Pelicans relied on hot shooting performances to spark the three game streak, and it bit them against the Clippers.
