Free agent forward Carl Landry is still on the market and searching for a team. The Charlotte Bobcats and Golden State Warriors seem to be the only teams interested in Landry at this point. The Bobcats have expressed their interest to the Hornets of a possible sign-and-trade deal as it will allow them to offer Landry slightly more money. According to sources the Hornets are interested in possibly signing & trading Landry to the Bobcats for reserve center DeSagana Diop.

The Hornets desperately need another center to fill out their front court before the season starts. Right now there is not one “true” center on their roster. Diop will not come in and make a serious impact but he is a good start. He had a good season in his last with the Mavericks a few years ago and has since fell under the Bobcats way. Maybe on a better team and some better coaching Diop will be more productive. He will be due $7 million next season which leaves some serious question marks on wether this guy is worth it.

If it was not for Diop’s $7 million contract I would tell the Hornets to do this ASAP. His contract expires after this upcoming season so at least there would be no long term commitment involved.

According to Alex Kennedy over at Hoopsworld.com, the Charlotte Bobcats have contacted the Hornets about a possible sign-and-trade deal. A deal that would send free agent forward Carl Landry to the Bobcats. At this point Landry is one of the best if not the best low post option left in this years free agency. No details have been released on any possible trade offers from the Bobcats.

The Golden State Warriors have also expressed interest in Landry, but they wish to just sign him as a free agent without a sign-and-trade. Seeing as how Landry can get more money from a sign-and-trade I would expect him to agree to join the Bobcats.

The Hornets acquired Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson this off season and have no need to re-sign Landry. He is a good player and a sign-and-trade would allow the Hornets to get something in return.
