The New Orleans Hornets got their first victory since December 3rd Wednesday night in Orlando. The Hornets were on a serious skid fall, an 11-game losing streak accounting for half of their season losses so far.

Robin Lopez and Grevis Vasquez stepped up big time and led the Hornets to victory of the Magic in this one. Lopez scored a career-high 29 points and recorded 3 blocks. Lopez seemed to be unstopable on the offensive end, shooting 9-10 from the floor.

“That comes from my teammates. They look for me. They’re giving me looks,” Lopez said of his big night. “We’ve been scrapping, but it’s just one game. We want to string together a few.”

Grevis Vasquez continued to play at a all-star level and stuffed the stat sheet once again. Vasquez finished with 27 points, 8 assist, and 6 rebounds.

Anthony Davis continues to make a case for rookie of the year notching another double-double. Davis added in 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

This was an important game for Ryan Anderson, returning back to Orlando where he played last season. Anderson did not shoot the ball very well but still put up 15 points on 4-11 shooting.

“It’s huge for us,” Anderson said. “Not only is it nice to beat the team that traded me, but it’s great for this team. It’s great for the morale. We’ve been battling to get a win. We’ve been fighting to the end. And this was a big step.”

Jameer Nelson was one of the few Magic players to play well. Nelson scored 28 points and dished out 10 assist. Nikola Vucevic added in 19 points and 9 rebounds.

Yes, the Dwightmere is finally over. The Orlando Magic have actually agreed to trade Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers in a 4-team trade, also involving the Denver Nuggets and the Philadelphia 76ers.

. Mandatory Credit: Douglas Jones-US PRESSWIRE

This is easily the blockbuster trade of this summer. It seems that every team wins in this situation, the Lakers easily come out on top though. If you look at the trade details, the Lakers essentially are only giving up Andrew Bynum in this deal and are getting back Dwight Howard and a backup point guard in return. Who thought the Lakers would be able to keep Pau Gasol in a deal that brought Dwight Howard to LAL?

Who the Lakers Get:

Dwight Howard

Chris Duhon

Earl Clark

Who the Magic Get (At Least):

Aaron Afflalo

Al Harrington

Nikola Vucevic

Moe Harkless

Josh McRoberts*

Christian Eyenga*

Protected 1st round picks from Lakers, Nuggets, & 76ers

2013 2nd round pick from Warriors via Nuggets

NOT Pau Gasol

Who the Nuggets Get:

Andre Iguodala

Who the 76ers Get:

Andrew Bynum

Jason Richardson

Key: * = Updated

Neither Dwight Howard nor Andrew Bynum have made promises about signing extensions with their new respective teams yet. Both will be able to able to make more money and sign for more years if they wait until after the season and enter free agency.

I am glad this deal finally got done, I am sure the rest of the world is too, but the Magic definitely settled. We are talking about the best center in the league right now and all the Magic have to show for is a rookie and 3 draft picks that have no chance of seeing the lottery. The Nuggets and 76ers did great jobs in this trade.
