New Orleans Pelicans: Game grades for loss to Chicago Bulls

The New Orleans Pelicans entered Chicago tonight with a chance to pick up a surprising win and clinch and over .500 record for the month of December. Through the first three quarters they competed and put themselves in a spot to do just that but ultimately Jimmy Butler’s 33 points proved too much as the team fell on the road to the streaking Bulls, 107-100.

Other observations:

  • This was always going to be a tough game for the Pelicans to win. A back-to-back with travel involved is just brutal and the Bulls were rested after having last night off. They are a really good team that is hitting their stride and expecting the Pelicans to win is just unfair to them. But they competed hard which was nice to see.
  • I have no idea why Monty Williams started the 4th with five reserves but that was never going to work. The Bulls went on a run that essentially but the game out of reach. Monty has to find ways to stagger rotations better.
  • Tuesday at home against the Suns is huge. It should be a fun game.
