The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Phoenix Suns 110-106 Tuesday night in a close game that snapped a four game losing streak against the team. Anthony Davis tied his season high for rebounds in a game with 18, and the team played well as a unit down the stretch of the game. Jimmer Fredette almost his a couple of three’s and iced the game with two free throws late. The Pelicans move to above .500 again with the win.

NA. No minutes, which means I’m irritated with Monty once again. This dude was playing REALLY well for the amount of minutes he was getting, he’s more mobile than Asik, and he seems to know how to at least use his body when he is in front of a defender. Get this kid some minutes please. I think he deserves them. . C. New Orleans Pelicans. JEFF WITHEY

Other Observations:

  • This team still plays best when they are moving the ball. Jrue Holiday driving left towards the baseline every other play isn’t going to net him 20+ points a night. Passing the ball to open teammates and cutters, would help this team as a whole score. Something they could use if they wanted to shoot their efficiency numbers through the roof. (They already have the fifth best lineup offensively in the league when Anderson is in for Asik, but the amount of iso ball they play makes me believe they can be even better.)
  • I can only assume that Tyreke Evans will have the ball in his hands more and more if he keeps playing like this. I don’t like this idea a lot, specifically in late game situations. Most of the shots Tyreke takes that he should make near the rim, wind up no where near inside the basket, and a lot of the shots he shouldn’t make, also don’t go in. Don’t let this become a habit Monty.
  • I’m going to bang on this drum until the franchise, or Monty do something to address the situation, but can Jeff Withey please get a few minutes a night minimum? His pick and roll services are good for a bench unit that has struggled at times, and he seems to have good chemistry with the whole team when he plays. I see no reason why he’s not getting playing time.
