The New Orleans Pelicans entered Monday evenings game with the Washington Wizards looking to build off of a strong showing on Friday night against the Houston Rockets. With the addition of
Eric Gordonback into the rotation and the Wizards closing out a Western Conference road trip things seemed set up perfectly for the Pelicans to get a win in one of their tougher games this month. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be though as the Pelicans turned the ball over 18 times on their way to a 92-85 loss.
Other observations:
- The Pelicans just aren’t going to win games when Ryan Anderson and Jrue Holiday combine to go 10-28 from the field and 3-12 in the second half. They are the only real spacing threats the Pelicans have with Jimmer getting spot time and Gordon working his way back into shape and if they can’t make shots it makes things much harder for Davis.
- The Pelicans guards just missed Davis a ton in the first half. It was the type of thing that people complain about all of the time. Multiple possessions included Davis rolling to the rim wide open only to have a teammate not throw a pass. That just can’t happen.
- This stinks but isn’t a killer. The Wizards are a good team and one that is perfectly equipped to neutralize the Pelicans strengths. There is a lot of weaker teams on the schedule this month and New Orleans should end it with a nice string of wins.
- The Pelicans return to the court on Wednesday with one of those weak teams in Charlotte against the Hornets.
