Like the Cole trade this would be the Pelicans again taking advantage of a team trying to clear room for younger players. Ridnour is averaging just 12 minutes per game over the Magic’s last 10 games, though part of that was due to injury. If Orlando is able to move Ridnour though it would just mean more minutes for Elfrid Payton, Victor Oladipo and Evan Fournier at point guard until the end of the year while also saving Orlando a bit of money.

For New Orleans the deal would be perfect. Ridnour would give the Pelicans a point guard with three-point shooting ability as he has shot 36.4 percent from three this season and 35 percent for his career. Combining that with a veteran who would have no problem getting the Pelicans into an offense and creating shots for fellow bench players and things work perfectly. The fact that Ridnour has a non-guaranteed year on his contract for next year makes things even better for the Pelicans who can let him go without a problem.

In the end though like the Cole deal there is little chance of this actually happening. Ridnour has been banged up and the Magic seem to want to keep veterans around so it doesn’t seem super likely they deal him for a few thousand dollars of savings.
