New Orleans Pelicans scratch and claw but come up just short

The New Orleans Pelicans entered Game 2 against the Golden State Warriors a battered bunch.

With

Tyreke Evans

and

Jrue Holiday

as game time decisions and Holiday eventually out, New Orleans was down to just a few players they could trust on the perimeter against a great Warriors backcourt.

Yet as they have all season the Pelicans fought through adversity and found themselves in a game in the fourth quarter. The Warriors eventually pulled away thanks to superior talent but the statement was made. The Pelicans are a team that won’t go away easy and will be a problem for the league soon. The rest of the NBA should be scared.

Other observations:

  • This just came down to talent and that is ok. The Warriors are better than the Pelicans and at a certain point that is what matters. The Pelicans are fighting hard and doing all they can which is the important thing.
  • I thought Monty Williams was great tonight. He made the proper adjustments, had a great feel for his players and kept his team around. This wasn’t on him.
  • Hopefully Jrue is back for Game 3.
  • The Pelicans can steal a game in the Smoothie King Center if they keep fighting like this.
  • That was a ton of fun which is great. The Pelicans not getting blown out is showing something to their fans and the rest of the league. This team has a bright future.
  • Game 3 is Thursday night in New Orleans. It will be incredible.

Tweet of the night:

100 percent the truth.
