Grade Evans’ season A through F.
Rick: B+. With what he was asked to do, there’s a lot of positives to take out of this season. He finally broke the streak of his stats getting worse and worse every year since his rookie season, including his best scoring year since 2010-2011 and his best assist and rebounding numbers. He helped keep a Pelicans team afloat without two and sometimes three of the most important players on the team. He took on so much weight that it nearly broke him in half on more than a few occasions. It was a great overall year from him. He did a lot of things not many expected him to be able to do before the season. Big reason this team made the playoffs.
Charles: I would give Reke a solid B. He was above average this season and more often than not he performed well. His versatility was a saving grace for the Pelicans. He was asked to play three different positions this season and performed well overall in each of them. The biggest issue with Tyreke is that he tends to force things too much and that leads to reckless play. Their was definitely sights of that carelessness this season but more often than not Tyreke was able to play well and find some contribution to help the team. Something he should be credited for as well is being able to stay on the court. Tyreke was banged up all season and still suited up for a career high 79 games. That’s something that should be applauded. Overall it was a good season for Reke and I’m very interested to see how he fits into the new coaches plans.
Matt: B+. Evans was asked to do an insane amount this season for the Pelicans partially because he was the only player to stay healthy in basically every game. He carried the offense through plenty of stretches and the Pelicans desperately needed his shot creation. There were frustration moments for sure but in totality it was a really nice season for Reke.
