Austin (@apete1993): David Wesley

Wesley was a long time Hornet, spending around seven and half seasons in Charlotte and New Orleans combined. Like Baron Davis, he was a part of the team that made the move to NOLA in the 02-03 season. Wesley was a sharp shooter from deep, shooting over 37% with the New Orleans Hornets and finishing 4th in the league in the 02-03 season, eclipsing 42% from long-range.

He was the perfect complement to a drive first point guard like Baron Davis, spotting up and knocking down shots when the defense committed to Davis. The 1.3 steals per game is a solid number as well. Having Wesley and Davis as the head of a defense could’ve been menacing for opponents to go up against.

Wesley never made an All-Star or was nominated to an All-NBA team, but he was a solid starting shooting guard nonetheless. Obviously, Baron Davis was the best player for that team but it is nice to have another player like Wesley who can get you 15-16 points a game and be a threat to knock down shots from deep. He was also a part of the Hornets teams that went to the playoffs their first two seasons in New Orleans, averaging a solid 11.8 points per game and shooting 39.1% from three-point range in 13 playoff games with the team.
