The most prolific marksman in the history of New Orleans basketball is by far Peja Stojaković. He was the longest tenured small forward in New Orleans basketball history, playing five seasons with the organization. Peja’s key statistic was his marksmanship from the field when needed, being one of the key players in New Orleans’ run in the playoffs in 2007-2008.

In his five seasons in New Orleans, consistency shooting the ball was the key component for Peja Stojaković. He never averaged under 14 points per game in his five seasons on the team. He also never shot under 40% from behind the three-point line in a season and he never shot under 39% from the field. His free-throw percentage every season was above 80%, including an absurd 92.9% in 2007-2008.

The playoffs were not as strong a point for Peja Stojaković, but he still was able to score the basketball effectively. Peja averaged over 11 points per game in both years New Orleans made the playoffs and in 2007-2008 shot over 50% from behind the three-point line in 12 games. That kind of marksmanship got New Orleans past Dallas and nearly helped them conquer the Spurs in the second round, losing to San Antonio in seven games.

It’s tough to forget about what Peja Stojaković did for New Orleans basketball because he was the longest tenured small forward in the city’s history and was a part of the longest playoff run in team history. His ability to shoot lights out from wherever he was on the gym was a formidable weapon for a team with great talent all over the floor. Peja Stojaković left a great impression on New Orleans basketball with what he was able to accomplish in his time on the team. He most certainly deserves a spot on this list.
