Austin (@apete1993): Peja Stojakovic
Peja Stojakovic played in the NBA for 16 seasons, spending five with the Hornets in New Orleans. His best seasons were in Sacramento, but he still had several quality years in New Orleans playing alongside All-Stars Chris Paul and David West. One of the best three-point shooters of all time, Peja was a career 40.1% shooter from three, shooting a blazing 40.4% from downtown during his time in New Orleans. His per game scoring averages dropped each season in New Orleans, with his peak coming in year one, averaging 17.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
The highlights of Peja’s career were obviously playing for the stacked Kings teams in the early 2000’s and winning the title with the Mavericks in 2011, but his two times reaching the playoffs with the Hornets were successful personally for him. He averaged 13.2 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game while shooting a lights out 46.8% from three in those two playoff appearances. He was a key part of the team’s success in their only visit to the second round in team history, shooting an unbelievable 54.9% from three in twelve postseason games. With him playing a huge role for probably the best team in New Orleans history, Peja gets the nod for my starting small forward spot.
