What is there to say that hasn’t already been said?

Davis’s three seasons are among the most productive ever for an NBA player. Davis already has a career PER of 26.8, a netRTG of 16, and a competitive playoff appearance. He is a guard in a mutant’s body, jacking jumpers off the bounce and blocking every shot in sight.

If the addition of a three-point shot this summer is successful, he will be quite literally unstoppable. I’m not sure that we’ve ever seen a player like him. And everyone loves him for it, finding guilty pleasure in the opportunity to watch him in his prime, savoring the moment and praying that it will last forever.

He was one of very few that have shown true devotion to the city of New Orleans, as evidenced by signing an early extension with franchise instead of testing next summer’s huge money market. While we can assume the extra dollars had something to do with his decision, I’d like to think he truly enjoys playing with this squad, and the coaching change this season should multiply that joy.

He very well might be a shoo-in as the starter for an all-time team as early as next season, but for now appreciate the real prizes the franchise has been awarded at the four spot. Davis is next in line to become someone as truly beloved in the city as a Drew Brees or a Chris Paul. Enjoy him, Pelican fans.
