Charles (@CLaRoccaJR): Anthony Davis

Was there ever any doubt?

Anthony Davis is the current face of the New Orleans Pelicans and his stock is only going up. In only his third season Davis has established himself as the second best player in history and he is not far off from surpassing Chris Paul.

I could easily point to his monstrous stat line this past season. I could easily talk about his two gold medals, or even his two All-Star appearances. Or mention he was a First-Team All-NBA, or who he led his team to a playoff berth at just 22-years old.

But these things are all well documented and unless you have been living under a rock it’s obvious that Davis is headed to basketball nirvana. Anthony Davis has the ability to completely transform the identity of New Orleans basketball. The New Orleans Pelicans fanbase is the largest it has ever been and the more Davis continues to ascend, the more it will grow.

The Chris Paul era was darn good but with the uncertainty of ownership and poor management, it always seemed like his departure was inevitable. For the first time since basketball returned to New Orleans, there appears to be stability. Anthony Davis recently signed a max extension to remain in New Orleans and with his ever growing stardom, he can  single-handily bring the New Orleans Pelicans to the national stage.

It is not a matter of if, but when will he become the best player in franchise history, Davis name could become one that is synonymous with New Orleans basketball. One scary fact remains true, the best has yet to come for Anthony Davis.
