Charles (@CLaRoccaJR): Jamal Magloire

One thing is for certain when looking at New Orleans history, is that Pelicans have not had any great centers come through the franchise ranks but they have had a few solid ones play for the franchise through the years.

That brings me to my Pelicans backup center, Jamal “Big Cat” Magloire. Jamal Magloire donned the New Orleans jersey for three seasons and played rather solidly. Big Cat averaged a solid 12 points and nine rebounds in those three seasons. He even turned his 2003-2004 season into an All-Star appearance becoming the only Pelican center to have that honor bestowed upon them.

While in New Orleans Magloire proved to be a reliable and consistent center. offensively he was a strong finisher at the rim and was a good enough athlete to provide rim protection defensively.  Overall Maglorie was a good player for the Hornets, but a knock on him that prevents him from claiming the top spot is that he only played three seasons in New Orleans and the team, despite making the playoffs during that time, was largely mediocre. Magloire was a good center in New Orleans but his impact was not as influential on the team’s success as the guy ahead of him.
