The rankings are everywhere. Sports Illustrated just released their Top 100 NBA Players for the 2015-16 season in the past week. CBS’s Eye on Basketball blog will release their Elite 100 at some point in the coming weeks and ESPN’s NBA Rank will start sparking Twitter debates at some point in September. With that in mind Pelican Debrief decided that ranking the New Orleans Pelicans felt like a logical exercise to do, so welcome to our Pelicans Rank project.
The New Orleans Pelicans signing of Kendrick Perkins took a lot of people by surprise. With his lack of speed and mobility, the Pelicans depth at the big man positions and his general being terrible at basketball, Perkins just didn’t seem to fit what the Pelicans were trying to build.
That said he is a member of the team now and thanks to all of his faults ended up ranked dead last in our Pelicans Rank project. It has been a fairly full day of Perkins related content on the site but we decided that the best way to wrap things up each day of Pelicans Rank would be with some roundtable discussions.
We start those roundtables today with a look at Perkins touching on important subjects such as the reaction to the signings, comfort levels if Perkins is ever actually forced into action due to injuries and a footrace between Perk and Omer Asik.
As is always the case with our roundtable we encourage readers to give us their answers in the comment section to as many questions as you would like.
