What was the worst loss of the season so far?
Matt: There have been a ton of bad losses so this is a tough one. The 17 point loss at home to Denver has to be up there as does the demolitions at the hands of the Clippers and Grizzlies as those two were supposed to be teams the Pelicans were chasing down this season. Ultimately though, the loss to the Celtics on Monday sticks out to me as the worst. New Orleans was coming off an incredible high after beating the Cavaliers on Friday and laid a gigantic egg. It was awful.

Nathan: Maybe it’s recency bias, but the absolute dismantling of the Pelicans by the Boston Celtics was the worst to me. The Celtics are not a bad team, but they certainly aren’t great. Instead, they beat the Pelicans in the way good teams win games: they played tough defense, played unselfish offense and left everything on the court. The same cannot be said for the Pelicans, who looked like they were simply going through the motions of getting clobbered. The most disheartening part of the loss, though, is the fact that the Pelicans just beat the Cavaliers a few nights prior. Just when you thought the team had turned a corner, you realized completely wrong you were. This is the loss, above all others, that has soured me on the future prospects of the team the most.
Rick: The home game against Denver that pushed this team to 1-10. There was a lot of issues to be had about this game. The offense was completely flat all night. The defense was about as non-existent as it could be. There was absolutely no fire from the team whatsoever. Add on the fact that Danilo Gallinari went for 32 points on 12-19 shooting and you have a recipe for disaster.
Austin: The game at home against the Celtics on Monday was a huge let down. After a huge win against Cleveland on Friday, you have to win that game and get some wins strung together. They lost rather easily, not even putting up a fight. The resolve just isn’t there and if you can’t string together wins, maybe they aren’t destined to make the playoffs.
