In a game where defense seemed to be a dirty word, the New Orleans Pelicans outgunned the Denver Nuggets to start the holiday week right.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been struggling on both ends of the floor. Against the Denver Nuggets, the Pelicans at least figured out half of the equation. This game was all offense from the get-go as both teams put the ball in the basket with ease. Once again, a guard gashed the Pelicans for a big game. This time, Will Barton scored 32 points.
Anthony Davis led the team in scoring despite only playing in the first and fourth quarters due to illness. Davis was in complete control on both ends of the floor while he was out there, and his intensity helped ignite the team late in the fourth quarter.
Other observations
- Anthony Davis played like a true superstar. He made all of the plays the team needed with the game on the line and still led the team in scoring despite only playing 20 minutes.
- Tyreke Evans didn’t play nearly as well as the stat sheet indicates. He could have easily turned the ball over a few more times if he wasn’t bailed out by teammates.
- Omer Asik made himself useful, and the Pelicans could really use some more of that.
- Norris Cole continues to disappoint, and it is insane that Ish Smith has not absorbed his minutes by now. Ish was playing very well before Cole returned.
