New Orleans Pelicans Grades: Pelicans narrowly defeat Nets
By Nathan Heck
The New Orleans Pelicans played a close game against the Brooklyn Nets, and Jrue Holiday came up with some big plays down the stretch to get the win.
The New Orleans Pelicans struggled with a very weak Brooklyn Nets team on Saturday night. Brook Lopez gave the Pelicans fits by scoring 33, and the Pelicans could not limit him around the basket. Anthony Davis returned to action after missing the last game and a half with a concussion.
Struggling in the first half, Davis turned it on after the break to help the Pelicans get the win. Holiday came up with two big plays within the last thirty seconds to keep the Nets at bay, and Ryan Anderson had another strong shooting night.
Other Observations:
- The interior defense completely disappeared when Omer Asik left the floor.
- Jrue Holiday was a monster with the game on the line, and he deserved to play more than 23 minutes, especially with the Pelicans running a nine man rotation.
- Anthony Davis was able to avoid getting discouraged, and that is a huge sign of maturity that fans should definitely appreciate.
- Ryan Anderson is so good at hitting three pointers in transition while trailing the ball-handler.
