The Starters

Jrue/Moore/Hill/Davis/Asik

Meet your starting lineup.  It makes me sad as well (Asik), but it’s easy to have little confidence the Pelicans are truly willing to do what needs to be done by benching the $11 million dollar man. Steve Kerr and the Warriors learned the awful truth early on in his tenure.  He sat down his veterans one by one and discussed with them why Andre Iguodala and David Lee would not start the season on the floor.

With that being said, this will in all likelihood be the Pelicans’ very best defensive lineup.  Jrue Holiday has the capability of slowing down offensive PGs, while Moore and Hill give the Pelicans’ the flexibility to not only allow defensive switching, but embrace it as a weapon.

Both men are aggressive and unrelenting, with the wingspan to complicate the lives of any perimeter scorer.  This will be a very valuable lineup against offenses like that of Phoenix, Dallas and Oklahoma City. These are teams that rely on getting hot early, but crumble when their shots refuse to fall.
