The Other Guys

Tyreke(Jrue)/Buddy/Galloway/Q-Pon(Davis)/Asik

This should be the New Orleans Pelicans’ bench unit.  This lineup should never see the light of day without Davis or Jrue on the floor, but just to save some time of creating 47 different lineups, let’s take a gander at the team’s first replacements.

While Tyreke Evans and Buddy will struggle defensively, it will allow Reke the space to access his best strengths (dribble penetration/creation) and will rely on New Orleans’ two best defenders to make up for their mishaps. Galloway will use his wingspan (6’8) to match up with opposing perimeter players.

Asik and Tyreke bring out each other’s best performances as was evidenced last January and in the 2014 season.  The two should share the floor as much as possible.  Tyreke’s slow method of isolation and basket attacking allows Asik the time to establish position down low, create offensive rebounding, and get out in time to set hard screens.  This will allow Buddy, Galloway, and Q-Pon time and space to access back door cuts, while taking open jumpers from the perimeter.
